Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
The opportunity below is for an unpaid volunteer position with Tridia Hospice.
Tridia Hospice provides compassionate care to patients - and their families - during and after the final stage of their life. Volunteers serve an important purpose by giving their time.
Tridia has an office in the Ashtabula area that could benefit from a volunteer.
Volunteers are needed who are able to spend a minimum of 1 hour per week at our office.
Volunteers must be 18 years of age (16 or 17 years of age with parental consent), have their own transportation (and insurance, if appropriate), pass a background investigation (provided by Tridia Hospice), and successfully complete volunteer orientation and training (also provided by Tridia Hospice).
The ideal volunteer candidate will have general knowledge for business office administration.
Volunteers must: be respectful of staff and other volunteers they interact with; complete their scheduled appointments or reschedule them promptly; document their time appropriately; follow Tridia’s policies and legal requirements.
Tridia Hospice is required by Federal law to have a volunteer program for our patients. Volunteers may serve our patients indirectly by providing administrative support.
Volunteers provide general office support (documentation, filing, telephone), bereavement support (mailings, telephone), and may support other hospice services (social work, chaplain, marketing) based on their skills and knowledge. Hospice volunteers may earn community service credit for volunteering while others gain valuable experience and contacts in the health care industry.
