Time In seeks resourceful, mission-driven, forward thinking leaders, with a passion for the arts and equality to bring their expertise to our Board of Directors. Our Board’s work is dedicated to the belief that every child, regardless of socio-economic background, is entitled to a thoughtfully crafted, arts-enriched education in which each individual child’s talents and needs are recognized, and the support for greater creativity, intelligence, self-esteem and a brighter, better future is more than just a promise.
Starting in October we will be launching an Opera+Art Arts-Integrated Model Program: a high quality, arts immersive intervention for every child at PS 197, our long-term partner school at the corner of 135th and 5th Avenue beginning with kids as young as 2.5 and continuing through 5th grade graduation.
Early Ed intends to bolster academic readiness. However, a lack of resources at chronically impoverished schools like 197, render these schools ill-equipped to level the playing field.
TI’s Arts-Immersive Model will create a community of children versed in the arts & language, who are culturally literate, self-aware, & active participants in the city’s cultural life. For more information see: vimeo.com/284175057 and http://www.timeinkids.org
Since its founding in 2006, The Time In Children’s Arts Initiative has transformed the lives and vistas of nearly 3000 of the city’s youngest and most disadvantaged public school children. Collaborating uniquely with under-resourced Title 1 schools, Time In ensures unprecedented access to the highest quality of educational and creative environments, providing the tools and support that at-risk children need to flourish, thrive and hope. In Harlem, where debilitating academic, cultural and social inequities severely limit a child’s opportunities, Time In has brought transformative change to the lives of children, families, teachers and school administrators through its signature interdisciplinary literacy and arts-based learning platform.
We look forward to welcoming new Board members with expertise in Marketing, Business Development, Strategic Thinking, HR, Education, Arts Administration, Opera, Finance, Communication, Video and Film Production, Web Development, Design.

Description
Founded in 2006, The Time In Children's Arts Initiative, is transforming the lives and educations of some of New York City's youngest and most underserved public elementary school children through an intellectually and aesthetically invigorating arts immersion that integrates opera, art, museum visits, gallery hops, language and literature into the normal school day. Fusing artistic, intellectual and socialĀ-emotional learning, Time In brings entire grades of children out of underserved classrooms and into the world of the contemporary arts every week, providing unprecedented access to the highest quality of artistic enrichment that New york City has to offer.
Regardless of their backgrounds, children are children: the world of imagination, creativity and fantasy is their most fertile ground. Time In acknowledges children's phenomenal gifts and innate abilities, ensuring innovative and substantive learning environments that stimulate, rather than stifle. Through its immersive arts intervention, Time In will continue to foster not only wonderfully conceptual thinkers, but perceptive and culturally sensitive individuals, each of whom will be poised to nourish our society in the days to come. Joyously engaging the arts to ensure underserved children the tools and support they deserve to flourish, thrive & hope .
