JOB TITLE: MHC HEALTHCARE VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

REPORTS TO: VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

EEOC: STAFF/OPERATIONS

FLSA: UNPAID

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

MHC Healthcare is always hiring Volunteers. We know that every successful program is made even better by the continued participation and support of our volunteers. From one-time event volunteers, to those who provide direct care to our patients, whether it’s for one-hour a week or hundreds of hours a year, we have a volunteer opportunity to fit your unique skills, interests and schedule.

Please let us know which one(s) of the following Volunteer Positions you are interested in.

1. Assistant to Receptionist
  • Typical Duties: Greet public, answer questions, give directions, provide basic health center information, assist with documents, answer phones, faxing, copying, sorting, and mailing materials, etc.
  • Qualifications (Skills, Talents, Experience Needed): Computer, phones, and office equipment
  • Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, morning (3 hours) or afternoon (3 hours)
  • Position Supervised by: Receptionist
  • Training Involved: NEO and reception duty training

2. Greeter
  • Typical Duties: Greet and assist public, answer questions, give directions, and provide basic health center information, and enforce policies, practices and procedures
  • Qualifications (Skills, Talents, Experience Needed): Communicate clearly.
  • Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, morning (3 hours) or afternoon (3 hours)
  • Position Supervised by: Receptionist
  • Training Involved: NEO and greeter training

3. Data Entry Clerk
  • Typical Duties: Input data, create and update health center documents, or other assigned clerical duties
  • Qualifications (Skills, Talents, Experience Needed): Basic computer operations, phone answering, and office equipment knowledge, and able to accurately input data
  • Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, morning (3 hours) or afternoon (3 hours)
  • Position Supervised by: Staff of department
  • Training Involved: NEO and data entry training

4. Program Aide (for classes, departments, activities, and programs)
  • Typical Duties: Greet public, ability to answer questions, give directions, basic health center information, assisting department staff, answer phones, and other assigned duties. Front desk back-up. Also confirmation of appointments and calls to lapsed patients (ex. reminder calls to patients who missed their annual check-ups). Assist in running education/support groups (nutrition, diabetes, etc). Indexing which can be done at any site.
  • Qualifications (Skills, Talents, Experience Needed): Knowledge of class program and/or subject, appropriate conduct, Computer, Phones, Scanning, and Office Equipment
  • Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, morning (3 hours) or afternoon (3 hours)
  • Position Supervised by: Staff of department
  • Training Involved: NEO and training as needed

5. Marketing, Public Relations and/or Outreach Aide (for PR & Marketing or Outreach departments)
  • Typical Duties: Greet public, ability to answer questions, give directions, health center information, assisting department staff, answer phones, and/or as other duties may arise relating to the PR and Marketing departments. Replenish brochures, flyers and business cards for centers (the Medical Assistants (MAs) deliver (1x) per quarter). In-depth Outreach to meet the public, willing to get educated on MHC Healthcare services and its’ health centers to help represent MHC at health fairs, tabling events, talks at schools, libraries, senior groups, associations, etc. You need to be with an MHC employee when representing MHC Healthcare to the public.
  • Qualifications (Skills, Talents, Experience Needed): Knowledge of marketing, PR or outreach and/or subject, appropriate conduct, computer, phones, scanning, and office equipment
  • Appropriate Apparel: Professional business attire
  • Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, morning (3 hours) or afternoon (3 hours)
  • Position Supervised by: Staff of department
  • Training Involved: NEO and training as needed

6. Computer, Patient Portal, Virtual Assistant, Smart Phone & Tablet Tutor (for various classes and programs)
  • Typical Duties: Assist and teach basic computer, Patient Portal help, teach tablet or smart phone skills.
  • Qualifications (Skills, Talents, Experience Needed): Computers, tablets, smart phones, phones, and office equipment
  • Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, morning (3 hours) or afternoon (3 hours)
  • Position Supervised by: Staff of department
  • Training Involved: NEO and training as needed

7. Copper Café or Catering Event/Program Aide (for various programs, activities, catering or events)
  • Typical Duties: Follow food guidelines, assist staff with staging and serving, kitchen cleanup, set-ups and take-downs. Also answer questions, give directions, provide basic health center information, and assist department staff as needed.
  • Qualifications (Skills, Talents, Experience Needed): Team work approach, ability to stand on feet, and lift up to thirty pounds
  • Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, morning (3 hours) or afternoon (3 hours)
  • Position Supervised by: Staff of department
  • Training Involved: NEO and training as needed

8. Thrift Store Clerk
  • Typical Duties: Greet public, answer questions, give directions, and provide basic thrift store information, and enforce policies, practices and procedures. Assist with sales, merchandising, cleaning and displays.
  • Qualifications (Skills, Talents, Experience Needed): Knowledge of retail operations, appropriate conduct, computer, phones, cash register and handling, office equipment
  • Appropriate Apparel: Pants or capris (no skirts or shorts) and closed toe shoes.
  • Time Commitment: Minimum one day per week, morning (3 hours) or afternoon (3 hours)
  • Position Supervised by: Thrift Store Manager
  • Training Involved: NEO and retail training
