This stipend eligible position is for the 2017-2018 school year. The Arc Greater Twin Cities is a non-profit, grassroots advocacy organization serving people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families. Supporting The Arc’s program and services team, this position participates in the planning and implementation of programmatic activities and advocacy that positively impacts people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This position supports the health care access team and provides administrative, logistical, programmatic, customer and evaluative support. Specific duties include:
Facilitate connections with systems of support for health care access that exist in our community
Shadow health care application assistance appointments as needed
Assist Navigators in preparing for application appointments (i.e. schedule meetings with families, send out paperwork and documentation to help families prepare for meetings)
Obtain comments & feedback for program promotion, on Health Care Access page and in other program materials
Assist with outreach efforts for health care access; includes to diverse and underserved/underinsured communities
Assist in creating issue tracking systems for health care applications for use in systems work with metro-area counties
Participate in the development of educational workshops and provide community education
Assist with internal and external training needs, communication and process refinement
Other duties as requested
Must be available to intern 10-14 hours a week. Hours are Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends as needed. An exit interview will also be conducted to gauge intern experience and to make recommendations for improvement. Includes a $1000 stipend per term and/or may be work study eligible.

The Arc Minnesota is a statewide nonprofit organization that works to promote and protect the human rights of people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. The Arc helps people navigate systems while working to advance social change centered in justice, equity and belonging in community. Arc's Value Village is a public awareness and revenue generating vehicle for The Arc Minnesota. Arc's Value Village accepts clothing, housewares, art, media, books & related items and sells those items to the community.
