ORGANIZATION: Friends of Five Creeks

Pulling broom in Hillside Natural Area

For California Invasive Species Week, join Friends of Five Creeks volunteers in El Cerrito's beautiful Hillside Natural Area. We'll remove French broom and other fire-prone invasives, helping to welcome wildlife and people!

Tools, gloves, and snacks provided. Wear long-sleeves shirt, long pants, socks, and closed-toed shoes with good traction. Because poison oak is a possibility, this is not suitable for very young children.

Meet at the Schmidt Lane entrance -- service road next to big sign, east of Navellier and west of the El Cerrito Recycling Center, across from Stege Sanitary headquarters at 7500 Schmidt Lane.

Groups of 10 or more please RSVP. Otherwise, jut show up! Questions? Email f5creeks@gmail.com.

About Friends of Five Creeks

Location:

1236 Oxford St., Berkeley, CA 94709, US

Mission Statement

Friends of Five Creeks is an all-volunteer organization founded in 1996, working hands-on to protect and restore creeks, watersheds, and nature in Berkeley, Albany, El Cerrito, and south Richmond, on the east shore of San Francisco Bay.

Description

Besides frequent volunteer events, for the general public and for school, religious, business, or other groups, we lead walks, host free Bay Currents talks on nature and environment, publish a monthly e-newsletter on Bay Area environmental news, and advocate for political action on creek and watershed issues.
