PODER is looking for individuals who are patient, motivated, self-starters, and enthusiastic to work with adult learners who are in need of English skills. We are looking for individuals who are interested in tutoring INTRO/Beginner to ESL, Level 1 and Level 2 students.
There are currently two sites in which we are in need for volunteers:
8:30 AM - 10:45 AM (Monday - Friday) (6155 S. Pulaski - 2nd Floor of Marquette Bank)
6:15 PM - 8:30 PM (Monday or Tuesday) (5533 S. Sawyer - Catholic Charities Offices)
We also have opportunities available for individuals interested in offering workshops in the following content areas:
- Basic job skills workshops (such as communication skills, resume writing, etc.)
- Civic knowledge and civic engagement
- Digital literacy/technology

PODER offers comprehensive, tuition-free English education and job training programs for all education levels. Through its professional teachers and disciplined approach, PODER ensures that students learn to speak and read English with confidence, navigate daily life with ease, and gain the necessary skills to enter the Chicago job market. Oprima-1, the capstone of the PODER Program, is a paid training curriculum that guarantees students full-time employment as bilingual customer service representatives upon graduation.
