ATTENTION CHICAGO!

The Children's Tumor Foundation is excited to announce that the 2017 Chicagoland NF Walk will be on September 23rd. To make sure this walk is a huge success, we will need your help! We are looking for individuals to become super heroes in the fight to End NF by joining the Chicago NF Walk planning committee!

What is NF? Neurofibromatosis (NF) encompasses a set of distinct genetic disorders that causes tumors to grow along various types of nerves. NF can also affect the development of non-nervous tissues such as bones and skin. Neurofibromatosis causes tumors to grow anywhere on or in the body.

NF affects one in every 3,000 people, so we need all the help and smiling faces we can muster!

Are you ready to put an End to NF? .

If you are interested in joining the Chicago NF Walk committee, or have any questions about the NF Walk program, please contact Allison Cote at 646.738.8575 or acote@ctf.org

Mission Statement

The Children's Tumor Foundation's mission is to drive research, expand knowledge, and advance care for the NF community.

Description

Neurofibromatosis, or NF, is a genetic disorder that affects one in every 3,000 people. It can cause tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body, and complications from NF can lead to disfigurement, deafness, blindness, skeletal abnormalities, learning disabilities, malignancies, and debilitating pain. NF affects all populations equally, and there is not yet a cure.

The Children’s Tumor Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to finding effective treatments for the millions of people worldwide living with neurofibromatosis (NF), a term for three distinct disorders: NF1, NF2, and schwannomatosis. NF causes tumors to grow on nerves throughout the body and may lead to blindness, deafness, bone abnormalities, disfigurement, learning disabilities, disabling pain, and cancer. NF affects 1 in every 3,000 births across all populations equally. There is no cure yet - but the Children’s Tumor Foundation mission of driving research, expanding knowledge, and advancing care for the NF community fosters our vision of one day ending NF.
