Local non-profit looking for active, civic minded, community members to fill openings on Board of Directors.

Director Job Description

A Board Member will have a passion for serving youth and children. They must be willing to embrace the Objects of Kiwanis and support the Kiwanis mission of "Improving the world, one child and one community at a time". The member will participate in the monthly board meeting and serve on one of the Camp committees. The Board and Committee meetings are approximately two hours in length.

The Board is a working Board. This means a minimum of 10 hours a month commitment working on camp projects and activities. The member will commit to an initial two year term with option to renew for additional year term. A student member will commit to an initial one year term with option to renew for an additional year term.

A Board Member will be expected to actively engage in carrying out the strategic plan goals, participate in fundraising activities, and attend clean up days at Camp located in Washougal, WA. Monthly Board and Committee meetings required. Board meetings held in Vancouver, WA.

Please respond to post with resume and brief description describing your desire to serve on a non-profit board and any previous volunteer experience you may have. Previous or current Kiwanis membership or experience a plus.

All board members will be required to clear a criminal back ground check.

Our non-profit is committed to providing an outdoor experience that offers optimal child development and community growth through recreational, educational and leadership opportunities.

Description

Kiwanis Camp Wa-Ri-Ki is a natural forested environment for educational and physical recreational programs for children, families, community and church groups. The camp is located on 20+ acres nestled in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains along the scenic Washougal River.

Our Vision: To provide an environment for introspect, growth and adventure for children, families and community organizations to become better stewards of the earth.

The camp is sponsored by Division 44 Kiwanis and other volunteers. It is available for rental by individuals and community groups of all kinds, though first priority is given to organizations with at risk children.

The camp is complete with a commercial kitchen, dining hall, dorms, gym, stages, a meeting hall, a craft shop, and so much more. It is located in a beautiful natural setting next to the Washougal River, close to a National Forest and Department of Natural Resource properties that can be accessed from the camp.
