BECOME A MENTOR FOR LGBT YOUTH!

LifeWorks, a program of the Los Angeles LGBT Center is currently looking for adults interested in mentoring LGBTQ youth aged 12-24.

REQUIREMENTS:

One-On-One Mentor

-Must be 27-30 years of age or older

-Must be currently employed, financially stable, and able to lend significant life experience to a youth

-Must be friendly, approachable, have great listening & communication skills, and eager to assist a young person with becoming more fully developed & independent.

-Must commit to being matched with one youth for a full calendar year

-Must commit to having phone or email contact with their mentees at least once per week and face-to-face meetings at least twice per month.

-Mentors guide their mentees to develop a LifePlan; a series of goals to help youth acquire skills to live independently/productively. LifePlans encompass the following achievement areas: Home, Health, Education, Career, and Personal Development.

-Mentors spend quality time with their mentee exposing them to new facets of life.

-Must be willing to adhere to all rules set forth by LifeWorks regarding this program.
