Education Administration volunteers help to support the work of New England Wild Flower Society’s Public Programs department. The Public Program’s department manages all of the Society’s educational programs including adult and children’s classes, field trips, lectures, certificate programs, outreach, interpretation, etc. The Public Program’s department also manages the Society’s event rentals, visitor services, and volunteers.
Responsibilities- Help to market public programs by posting them online
- Transfer program attendance records into Excel
- Collate responses to student survey’s and record them in Excel
- Assist with mailings
- Scan old program materials for historical records
- Assemble information packets for Garden visitors
- Update member addresses in online system
Education Administration volunteers should be comfortable working with computers, data entry, email and data management. Experience working in a education is not a requirement.
CommitmentEducation Administration volunteers should be able to commit to a minimum of one half-day per every two weeks, with flexibility through the year.
TrainingThe Public Programs staff will provide-on-the job training for new volunteers.

Description
Founded in 1900 as the Society for the Protection of Native Plants, Native Plant Trust is the nation’s oldest plant conservation organization and a recognized leader in native plant conservation, horticulture, and education. Native Plant Trust’s headquarters, Garden in the Woods, is a renowned native plant botanic garden in Framingham, Massachusetts, that attracts visitors from all over the world. From this base, 25 staff and more than 700 volunteers work throughout New England to monitor and protect rare and endangered plants, collect and preserve seeds to ensure biological diversity, detect and control invasive species, conduct research, and offer a range of educational programs. Native Plant Trust also operates a native plant nursery at Nasami Farm in western Massachusetts and has seven sanctuaries in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont that are open to the public.
