This position is the vital to the success of the food pantry. You will be working with the drivers who volunteer to rescue any food donations in the area as well as private donations that may be made from an individual. As a volunteer you will work closely with the Back Room Manager and Shift Leader to ensure any needed items are ready to be distributed as quickly as possible. You may be asked to check on certain items that may be running low on the shelves, or to pull a different item to substitute the previous one.
Our food choices and quantities change daily and may not always match up to items previously donated. The donated items will need to be dispersed to the correct Refrigerator or Freezer for use at a later time. Must be able to distinguish between "good" and "bad" perishable foods.
Stocking shelves needs to be done in an organized manner. Items need to be stocked with like items to show respect for our patrons to give them the best choices we have for that day. Stock will also need to be rotated so older items are used before the newer.
If you are unable to lift and/or bend, help is always needed sorting produce, eggs, and other items. Chairs are available for these duties if needed.

We distribute food on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm and Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday mornings from 9 am to 11:30 am. We would like to have approximately 4-5 people for the backroom and stocking per shift.
