National Volunteer Week 2021 Is Here!
Celebrate with us as we highlight #ArtAsActivism!
Join us in supporting a supply chain from farms to families in Massachusetts! We organize volunteer projects to harvest, sort, and pack surplus food from local farms for distribution to families facing food insecurity. No experience is necessary-only a willingness and ability to lend a hand in physical, active work. All volunteers are trained on each trip. All volunteer activities also have strict COVID-19 protocols for the safety of all involved.
To Register: Visit our website (www.bostonareagleaners.org) and click "Get Involved".
Once you are registered, we will email you whenever there are volunteer opportunities. You can check our upcoming projects via the Volunteer page on our website, and can sign up for any project that fits your schedule.
As we have now entered the offseason, volunteer projects are smaller in size and focused on food box packing at our own facility in Waltham. We are currently hosting several projects per week, Monday through Thursday. We expect to host a broader selection of volunteer projects on both weekdays and weekends as the harvest season begins in early summer.
Be sure to register on our website to stay in the loop about goings-on!

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing surplus farm crops for people facing food insecurity. We deliver high quality, local produce to pantries and meal programs by working closely with local farmers, providing volunteer labor to harvest what would otherwise be plowed under. To learn more about our work, please visit our website.
When farmers have surplus produce that they would like to donate, they contact our Gleaning Coordinators and we organize staff-supervised volunteer trips to go out to those farms and harvest and/or sort through storage crops. All of the produce that we glean from farms is donated to our partner hunger relief agencies.
Interested volunteers are encouraged to sign up on our website. Farmers interested in donating to us can also do so on our website.
We'll work with your schedule.
