About

Join us in harvesting surplus crops for donation to hunger relief agencies in eastern Massachusetts! We are based in Waltham, and we travel to farms within a 1-hr. distance of of our office. We organize staff-supervised volunteer groups to go to farms to harvest and sort through donated produce. We train all volunteers each trip on proper produce harvesting and handling procedures - no experience required.

To Sign Up: Visit our website (www.bostonareagleaners.org) and click "Volunteer to Glean". Then you will be asked to register with our online volunteer management system. Once you are registered, we will email you when we have gleaning opportunities. During our busy season (August through December), we typically glean Thursday-Monday. There can be anywhere from 1-3 trips per day. There is no time commitment - volunteers are able to help out whenever their schedule allows. You pick the day, crop and location!
