Opportunity Description

Reporting to the Director of Development, the Nonprofit Events Management Intern will perform activities related to event planning, awareness, implementation and wrap-up. The volunteer will be tasked with researching sponsorship opportunities, writing sponsorship requests; processing event ticket orders; assisting with event day set-up and breakdown; managing event day volunteers; and other activities associated withe events management.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate details of events
  • Visit venue to plan layout of seating and decorations.
  • Schedule any speakers, vendors, and participants.
  • Coordinate and monitor event timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
  • Initiates, coordinates and/or participates in all efforts to publicize event.
  • Edit and design promotional materials.
  • Secure in-kind or monetary sponsorships.
  • Send out invitations and manage RSVP list.
  • Manage correspondence.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including registration and attendee tracking, presentation and materials support and pre- and post-event evaluations.
  • Keep inventory of backdrops, projectors, computers, and other display materials.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be able to communicate and engage with multiple and diverse audiences in a clear and compelling manner. Candidates must be self-motivated, detail-oriented, and highly-organized, and have experience with event planning.

Candidates must possess an ability to work well under pressure and the ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and succinct form. Excellent time management skills, self-starter who requires little to no supervision to meet event goals.

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) is a private, non-profit organization incorporated in November 1984. The mission of CASA is to provide volunteer advocates who are committed to work on behalf of abused and neglected children involved in the court system. CASA volunteers provide a constant source of information to the court and undertake any and all activities necessary for the promotion of these children's health, safety and welfare until a permanent disposition is made.

Description

To meet our mission, CASA recruits, screens, trains, supervises and supports individuals from the communities in Jefferson, Bullitt, Henry, Oldham, Trimble, Shelby and Spencer counties to perform this important advocacy function for children in need.
