Stamp Out Hunger is the largest, single-day food drive in the nation, and an

easy way to make a difference in your community.

Each year in May, letter carriers and volunteers will collect bags of healthy,

non-perishable donated food that people like you have set out by their mailboxes.

Donations are delivered to the Post Office where they are sorted and

then taken to EPFH. Volunteers at EPFH will assist in unloading food from

letter carriers truck to our warehouse. Please wear clothes that can get dirty,

closed toed shoes NO FLIP FLOPS or sandals.

Ages 12+ only, minors 14 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Minors 15-17 must have parents sign Juvenile Volunteer Agreement & Parental Waiver.

The Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is very important to local programs and

neighbors in need. In the spring, food supplies are typically lower. As schools

let out for the summer, the need for additional food is greater since young

students don't have access to free or reduced breakfast and lunch programs.

And locally, one in three children or one in six people are at risk of going hungry.

Mission Statement

To combat the hunger crisis in our region by strategically procuring and distributing nutritious food through community partners... because no one should go hungry.

Description

El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank meets an important community need.

In 1985, a small group of local concerned citizens established the West Texas Food Bank to address the critical issue of hunger in the west Texas area. Headquartered in Odessa, with a satellite office in El Paso, they set out to secure donations of surplus foods and grocery products for distribution through a network of chartiable organizations dedicated to feeding the hungry in 22 west Texas counties.

In late 2011, with the help of the West Texas Food Bank, a group of dedicated El Paso volunteers determined that El Paso and the two adjoining counties of Hudspeth and Culberson would be better served by a new, stand-alone Food Bank dedicated to these three counties.

El Pasoans Fighting Hunger was thus establised as a separate 501(c)(3) corporation to serve as a clearinghouse to solicit, store, inspect, repack and distribute surplus and donated food to a network of agency partners and address the high rates of hunger, poor nutrition, and related health problems of children and adults in El Paso, Hudspeth and Culberson counties.
