The YWCA of San Gabriel Valley seeks an enthusiastic, organized and self-motivated Special Events Intern to join our Development team. This is an ideal internship for a candidate who has strong attention to detail and who is seeking to build skills in special events orchestration. We are looking for a creative individual with special events experience and a passion for executing successful fundraisers.
Responsibilities Include:
Serve as one of the lead onsite coordinators for our signature "Women of Achievement" event
Assist with the planning and drafting of communication materials for event
Assist in creation of silent and live auction displays, packaging, bidding mechanics
Gift and registration recording and acknowledgment in donor database and spreadsheets
Create bid sheets, silent/live auction flyers, forms, and all other necessary event copy
Manage auction item acquisition and assist with obtaining and tracking sponsorships
Help manage budget documents to ensure tracking of expenses and forecasting
Assist with logistics, layout, seating, signage, setup, registration, execution, breakdown and cleanup on event day
Maintain event timelines and organizational files
Conduct an evaluation to determine success of events
Provide additional general administrative support within the department, as needed
Qualifications Include:
Some experience with organizing and executing special events and volunteer management
Impeccable grammar, punctuation and writing skills
Excellent time management with the ability to prioritize and verbal communication skills
Professional demeanor as agency representative, comfortable conducting one-on-one and group instructions with all age groups
Acute attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability
Ability to handle multiple tasks calmly, flexibly, efficiently and effectively
Ability to meet and exceed deadlines
Must be an enthusiastic, hardworking team player with a sense of humor
Enjoys working on a project and does not need constant specific direction
Available for some evening/weekend hours only before/after event

The YWCA SGV is committed to providing women, girls, seniors and their families with the information they need to manage the critical issues in their lives. We achieve this through our multi-lingual community education and service programs in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys.
The programs provided by the YWCA SGV include:

1) Healthy Relationships Education Program for Teens to prevent teen dating violence and provide assistance for those already experiencing violence.
2) Respect for All Anti-Bullying Project that uses award-winning films and discussions to reduce prejudice and bullying.
