Volunteers of America Oregon is seeking a Procurement Specialist Volunteer to expand capacity of our programs and events through in-kind donations. VOA Oregon provides a range of supportive and empowering services to our area's most vulnerable populations - and works with them to rebuild their lives and reach their full potential. A successful Procurement Specialist will have the opportunity to gain experience in nonprofit fundraising, specifically in-kind donation solicitation, and make a meaningful impact on her/his community.

Sample activities include:

  • Draft solicitation letters, emails and other templates as needed.
  • Solicit local businesses for in-kind donations for programs and events.
  • Maintain proper documentation and communication records.
  • Develop special projects in collaboration with your staff supervisor based on interest and need.

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • No fear of "cold" calling potential in-kind donors - ability to be both assertive and charming
  • Self-motivated, ability to work independently, and as a member of the development team

Desirable

  • Flexible, hands-on, "go-getter" attitude
  • Prior fundraising experience
  • Creative and innovative

Time commitment:

Minimum three-month commitment. 3+ hours per week. Flexible scheduling; ability to work from home and/or in the administrative office (Admin office: Monday-Friday, 8 am-5 pm).
