Aloha,
Project Hawai'i, Inc. is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers and solely supported by public donations. We provide a FREE summer camp for homeless and poverty stricken keiki. Our agency is seeking a VOLUNTEER photographer that would like to attend our summer camp and help us document the whole "story". We would love to have a short film made, or at least lots of photos to put together a story that will help us document our progress and hopefully allow us to gain more supporters.

Our summer camp is a sleepover camp, and we can provide you with full accommodations and meals in exchange for your volunteer service. Plus we can provide you with a full tax deduction for your services if needed. If you are not able to stay for the entire camp, but can come a few days, etc...that too is fine. We can work out the details. Sleepover is from July 9rd to the 13th. More dates are available for our teen mentoring program and our graduation for those who might wish to be more involved. Starting on July 6th-18th.

Our summer camp provides these children with life changing opportunities that help them to escape their cycle of poverty. It is vital part of our overall success!! Unfortunetly we are just not able to reach out to the community and get the support needed to run the camp as it should be. We are hoping to put together a 20 minute video/slideshow we can submit to public access tv and maybe obtain supporters that way.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a student who is trying to build their resume, or a photographer that is expanding their knowledge, etc.

We will need you to be able to transfer all the photos/video taken at the camp before you leave, so we have a copy as well. I really would like all photos on my computer or a drive before you leave camp.

For more information, please feel free to contact us. Mahalo for your time.

Description

Project Hawai'i, Inc., is a nonprofit organization run 100% by volunteers to enhance the lives of children living in poverty situations on the islands of Hawai'i. Our public supported charity works year round to provide necessities to children living in substandard housing situations, such as tents on the waters edge, abandon vehicles, and make-shift structures hidden in the bushes and hills.

Our agency provides children with holiday parties, meals and services for all the major holidays including Easter, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Other monthly services include providing emergency support, hygiene, food, clothing and outreach to the children living in homeless situations on 3 of the islands of Hawai'i, the Big Island (Hawai'i), Mau'i and O'ahu.

Project Hawai'i also provides educational and nutritional programs that include after school reading and tutoring programs and our summer camp activities. Children will also receive full back to school support from new backpacks filled with supplies, new outfits, and shoes. We also provide other educational needs throughout the year.

Project Hawai'i Summer Camp has ran for 15 years and won several dozen awards in nutrition and educational support. This program is our largest endevor and evolves year after to year to include even more learning opportunities to our keiki.
