Tax Preparers: interview customers and prepare their federal and state income tax returns. All volunteers wishing to provide free tax preparation are required to attend training and pass a certification test. All training is free. The training includes a segment on federal and state tax laws, as well as training for the computer software we use provided by the IRS.

Description
Community Tax Aid, Inc. (CTA) is a non-profit organization founded in 1987 that provides free federal and state tax preparation services to low-income individuals and families. We serve clients during the tax season at sites in DC, MD, and VA. CTA provides representation to our clients who receive notices from the IRS or state tax agencies and also prepares some tax returns during the off-season.
