Guardianship is a legel process designed to protect vulnerable persons from abuse, neglect ( including self-neglect ), and explotation. Guardianship provides for the person's care and to the largest extent possible that person's independence and right to make decisions affecting his or her life.

RSVP's mission is to provide opportunities for individuals ages 55 and above, to engage in service that addresses the nation's educational, public safety, environmental, and other human needs to achieve direct and demonstrable results and to encourage all seniors to engage in such service. In doing so, RSVP will foster civic responsibility, strengthen the ties that bind us together as a people, and provide educational opportunity for those who make a substantial commitment to service.
