Help us help people in the Silver Bay, Minnesota, community.

Do you want an opportunity to lead online classes on Medicare fraud awareness? Do you want an opportunity to give in-person presentations on Medicare? Do you want an opportunity to represent the Senior LinkAge Line at public events like Senior Fairs, Health Expos, and Health Fairs? Become a Senior LinkAge Line volunteer and help older Americans in the community where you live.

Our next training class goes from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 9, 10, and 11, 2024.Can you attend this remote class with us?

Learn the basics on Medicare and become a Health Insurance Counselor with the State Health Insurance and Assistance Program (SHIP).

In Minnesota, SHIP Health Insurance Counselors help Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and their caregivers to better understand Medicare options. SHIP Health Insurance Counselors provide information and referrals about available resources. SHIP Health Insurance Counselors also help Minnesota Medicare consumers enroll in programs that may lower health insurance costs and reduce prescription drug costs.

If this sounds like you then please contact our Volunteer Coordinator Lee for an application today. You will be a benefit to your community as a SHIP Health Insurance Counselor with the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging’s Senior LinkAge Line.

Upon a successful background check and the completion of the three-day training class, volunteers will receive certification through the Minnesota Board on Aging as a SHIP Health Insurance Counselor with the State Health Insurance and Assistance Program.

As a volunteer, you will receive staff support, guidance, and on-going training. You will provide assistance and outreach to the people of your community.

Mission Statement

The mission is to support successful aging in the Arrowhead region of Northeastern Minnesota. The goal of the Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging (AAAA) is to be a catalyst in building communities where seniors live with dignity, mutual respect and shared responsibilities across generations and cultures. Our three primary functions are to: link people to information, services and support through the Senior LinkAge Line; promote health for older adults and family caregivers; and assist local communities and organizations to develop and sustain services. The Arrowhead Area Agency on Aging is a division of the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC). ARDC is a regional planning and development agency serving the counties of Aitkin, Carlton, Cook, Itasca, Koochiching, Lake, and St. Louis in Northeast Minnesota.

Description

Our organization provides free, one-on-one assistance to people with Medicare and their families via telephone and face-to-face sessions, public education presentations, and other programs. We work directly with people on their Medicare questions. We can help them better understand their Medicare plans, their prescription drug plan options, and help them find services for Medicare Consumers in their community.
