About

This volunteer visits the patient/family on a regular basis until the patient’s death. The volunteer provides support services which may include but are not limited to: companionship (visiting, reading to, letter writing, playing games such as cards, chess, backgammon, going on outings or for walks, providing emotional support), short-term respite care (stays with patient to relieve caregiver for short periods), shopping assistance , meal preparation or assistance , light housekeeping (dusting, vacuuming, taking out trash, water plants, do dishes).
