Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Reach Out and Read Connecticut and Massachusetts is looking for volunteers to join our Connecticut and Massachusetts Advisory board. The main purpose of the Reach Out and Read Connecticut and Massachusetts Advisory Board is to aid and support the Connecticut and Massachusetts region in its fundraising efforts as well as increase awareness of the organization and its work. The Advisory Board will also provide guidance and support to the Connecticut and Massachusetts region as needed in non-fundraising areas. Examples may include areas such as marketing, programs, communications, social media, and community involvement.
Advisory Board meetings are held quarterly via conference calls. Help with occasional weekend fundraising events will be needed.
We are looking for people who are passionate about children, reading, and books. People who know how important it is for children to grow up with books, with parents who read to them regularly, and who have a love of reading themselves.
Librarians, teachers, business professionals, pediatricians, authors....really all professional backgrounds are welcome. Volunteers must love books and children.
Volunteer must reside in Connecticut or Massachusetts or be able to travel there when needed.
