Animal Transporters

We desperately need new transporters who have the ability to transport our animals (dogs of ALL sizes and breeds) from various locations around Dallas. Most of the transports are Monday through Friday during normal business hours and sporadically on the weekends. Consequently we need people with flexible schedules or who can take long lunch breaks (usually it takes about 1-1.5 hours to complete one transport). We are constantly needing dogs that we have tagged and identified for rescue to be picked up from Dallas Animal Services and taken to a selected vet locations around Dallas (usually east Dallas off of I-30, Coit and Central, or near Central and Knox Henderson). We also need our dogs to be picked up from these vet clinics and others and taken to one of our boarding partners (usually Frisco, Plano, Carrollton, Deep Ellum areas).

We communicate our transport needs daily via an email that includes the pick up and drop off addresses and phone numbers and the type and size of dog, the dogs ID number and any special instructions (any time deadlines, temperment of dogs, transport of records etc.) You just pick the pup you want to transport by responding back to the email.

Special note: All transporters must sign a release of liability. All transporters must understand that these dogs may be confused and hesitant. The safety of our dogs is paramount so we would like for the transporter to only use good quality leashes (not the leashes provided by the shelter and vet). We prefer a strong slip lead which is available at most pet supply stores. The dogs that are transported are on their way to finding a furever home but not there yet so the transporter must be vigilent at all times.

Our greatest need is during late afternoon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Our dogs need rides from Dallas Animal Services (on I30 and Westmoreland) to our vet partner on the tollway and Frankfort. Dogs must be picked up from DAS after 3:00 pm and be at the vet by 6:00 pm

Please we need your help so that we can save more animals.

About Paws in the City

Location:

Mission Statement

Paws In The City is an all-volunteer nonprofit 501(c) 3 organization committed to ending the abuse, neglect and overpopulation of Dallas area dogs and cats. Our goal is that every adoptable dog and cat get a loving home. By providing money for spay/neuter and increasing the adoption rate, we take the first step in making Dallas a no kill city.

Description

  1. Paws In The City has spent over 5 years rescuing and healing the abused, neglected and abandoned dogs and cats of our community. We focus on rescuing dogs and cats from the City of Dallas municipal shelter because they must euthanize almost 30,000 animals every year. We hope to make a difference.
  2. We currently do not have a shelter, but utilize foster homes and boarding facilities to board the animals in our care until a forever home can be found. Therefore we do not have employee or shelter related costs. Every dollar raised goes to foster, adoption, training, medical and spay/neuter programs.

Programs

**Rescuing, fostering and adopting dogs and cats through our foster and adoption programs

** Providing a Medical Assistance Fund which offers the public help with expensive surgeries or treatments that they could not afford on their own (for qualified applicants only)
