OUR MISSION : Meals On Wheels of San Francisco and its volunteers provide seniors what they need to live independent and dignified lives -- nutritious meals, professional social work, and friendly human contact.
HELP MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIVES OF SENIORS BY DELIVERING GROCERIES AND OTHER ESSENTIAL NUTRITIONAL AND SAFETY ITEMS!
Volunteers with wheels help hundreds of seniors every week in two of our core programs.
Home Delivered Groceries Program : Every Wednesday morning, volunteers pick up pre-packed bags of groceries donated by the San Francisco Food Bank and deliver them to over 240 seniors throughout San Francisco. Volunteer drivers pick up the grocery bags at the Meals on Wheels office around 8:30am and deliver the groceries to a pre-set route of 10-15 seniors. Each route takes about two hours to complete.
Client Needs Program : Each month, Meals on Wheels distributes small appliances and bottles of nutritional supplements to our senior clients who need these items to maintain their health and independence. Volunteers pick up the items at the Meals on Wheels office during office hours, and make arrangements with the client directly for delivery at the convenience of the volunteer and client.
