Looking for a fun summer volunteer opportunity? Be a Summer Camp Counselor at Gilbert House Children's Museum!
Summer Camp Counselors will enhance the Summer Camp experience by assisting the Summer Camp Educators. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: assisting both Summer Camp Educators and Museum Staff and with the supervision of campers during before and after care times (8:00-9:00 AM and 4:00-5:00 PM), lunch time (12:00-1:00 PM) and break times. They will also facilitate activities and help with setup/take-down of classroom or activities. Camp Counselors will gain experience in the following areas: child supervision, group management curriculum/activity facilitation, customer service and public speaking skills.
Time Required :
Camp runs for seven weeks. We ask that you commit to a minimum of one week of volunteer service, but you may volunteer all seven weeks if you desire. Below are the times we need volunteers:
Morning Shift: 8:00 am-1:00 pm
Afternoon Shift: 12:00 pm-5:00 pm
All Day 8:00 am-5:00 pm
Volunteers may sign up for one or more of the following weeks of Summer Camp:
Week 1: July 8 - July 12
Week 2: July 15 - July 19
Week 3: July 22 - July 26
Week 4: July 29 - August 2
Week 5: August 5 - August 9
Week 6: August 12 - August 16
Week 7: August 19 - August 23

Description
Gilbert House Children's Museum is a private nonprofit children’s museum located in downtown Salem’s Riverfront Park. Founded in 1989, Gilbert House Children's Museum provides innovative and stimulating educational experiences which spark children’s natural curiosity. The museum's mission is to "inspire children to learn through creative play." This is accomplished through fun and challenging exhibits, camps, birthday parties, membership opportunities and outreach programs in the sciences, arts, and humanities. The museum is composed of three historic houses; the Rockenfield House, Gilbert House and Parrish House.
