Mission Statement
Bottom Line's mission is to help low income, first generation students get into college, graduate from college and go far in life. Our vision is to dramatically transform urban communities by producing thousands of new career-ready college graduates.
Description
Students across America’s large urban school districts are enrolling in college in record numbers, however, their graduation rates remain tragically low. Bottom Line is uniquely positioned to ensure that low income, first generation students successfully complete college credentialed for employment.
In both of our programs, we prioritize developing high quality relationships with students as each student is paired with a knowledgeable adult, equipped with the tools to help them succeed. Meetings are scheduled monthly to ensure our team is up-to-date on each student’s circumstance.
Our work with college students is defined by an innovative curriculum that focuses on 4 areas most critical to college success: Degree (academics), Employability, financial Aid, and Life (DEAL).Based on this DEAL model, we have established milestones against which our students are assessed each semester. Counselors then implement individualized service plans to address areas where the student is most in need of support. All programming data is captured in our proprietary database, which anchors our program assessment and informs our work.
Over the past 20 years, we have demonstrated our capacity to scale. We have grown from serving 25 students in 1997 to nearly 4,000 this year, with more growth planned for the future.
