The 2018 hurricane season has been extraordinarily active in parts of the U.S., with Hurricane Florence currently impacting millions in the Carolinas. As this natural disaster unfolds, the staff here at VolunteerMatch is doing its part to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you are prepared and safe. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know about the most effective ways to contribute.
Work with children of teen parents attending weekly facilitated group sessions held in area churches. Parents and children eat dinner together, and then separate for a program facilitated by a Teen Parent Connection staff member and volunteers. Duties would include playing educational games, reading to children, and maintaining a safe environment for all attendees. Volunteers are assigned to the same time and place each week in the western suburbs. Most groups are from 6:00 to 8:00pm. Children vary in age from newborn to five years.
Days/Hours Available for Service Learners: M, T, or W between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Due to the required training, we kindly request a 6 month to 1 year committment, once a week. Background check and finger printing required.
