This is such a tough find! If you are linguistically adept with a passion for dogs and animal welfare, and if you have a bit of time each week to let your fingers tickle the keyboard, let us know! We're looking for help with our marketing to save lives!
We need volunteer creative writers to craft posts for our Facebook page and keep our audience engaged. We're also starting a newsletter/blog, and our critters occasionally need bios too. Talented writers are needed in many aspects of rescue work! This volunteer position can be done remotely and at any time of day or night thanks to the Facebook scheduling tool. Our writers are a critical part of our rescue effort and have the potential to make WDR really stand out from our peers! Our wordsmiths should be/have:
passionate animal lovers :)
innovative, expressive, driven people
detail oriented with excellent grammar and language skills
ready access to email as this is our main means of communication with the writing/content team/Founder
familiarity with Google docs and Dropbox
personal Facebook account and familiarity/expertise with this social media space
INNER CREATIVITY that will help us connect with our audience and drive engagement with our page (and other sites)
career marketing and/or social media experience an added bonus!
with time to donate and the commitment to stick with it
Our creative writing team is responsible for crafting the bulk of the content we put out into the world about our dogs, our organization and our mission. We would love to have several writing minds on the team bringing new and individual styles, inventive concepts and fresh produce to the WDR family. We utilize a weekly content schedule in Google docs and writers schedule posts when they have time. Our goal is to have FB content scheduled 1-2 weeks in advance. Our content creator plans out the writing calendar each week with an overall eye to our rescue's presentation across all channels. We may have a monthly theme and of course in rescue, there are special dates to promote throughout the year. There are a variety of subjects, including our current Orphans looking for homes, calls for volunteer help, the never ending need for donations and support, current news, event notices, educational/informative articles, humor, etc.
We're looking for volunteer writers who are dedicated and committed to this work. Even though it doesn't pay in cash, this work is every bit as important as your 9 to 5. The compensation comes in a different form and we think it's well worth it. We're looking for folks who believe in Wagging Dog Rescue and are committed to the organization's effort. Volunteers for this position should be over 25 and can reside anywhere.
Please email VOLUNTEER@WAGGINGDOG.ORG if you're the passionate, crafty linguist or marketing talent we're looking for! You can download a Volunteer Application from our website and send it in with your email.
Our mission is to save as many dogs as possible from the shelter endgame in Southern California and beyond, and to see them through one of our foster homes and into a loving forever future.
Wagging Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization striving to help as many dogs as possible get through Southern California's shelters and find the perfect forever family. We are an all volunteer group of passionate animal advocates, owners and rescuers dedicated to improving animal welfare and restoring the unwanted family pet to his rightful place in a responsible home. All of our adoptable dogs are in a private foster home with a loving caregiver who guides them through their transition from a stressful past to a permanent and well-deserved future. We promote responsible pet ownership, firm leadership, spay and neuter... and most of all, ADOPTION.
We'll work with your schedule.
