The Center for New Americans at the University of Minnesota Law School is seeking volunteers to be on-call for the Translation and Interpretation Project.
Through this exciting opportunity, volunteers will get the chance to work with practicing immigration attorneys and law students and serve as an integral part of the interviewing team. No prior legal experience or knowledge of immigration law is required. Training will be provided.
All those fluent in another language with a desire to volunteer for the Center for New Americans are encouraged to join the Translation and Interpretation Project. However, there is a particular need for volunteers who are fluent in Spanish, Karen, French, Arabic, Somali, Oromo, Amharic, or Kisii.
We ask that volunteers be available year-round, as our need is greatest during the academic year. Volunteers should also have access to transportation to the law school (229 19th Avenue South, Minneapolis) and immigration court (1 Federal Drive, Fort Snelling). Both locations are located on the light rail.
