The Time In Children's Arts Initiative227 West 29th StNYC, NY 10001

The Time In Children's Arts Initiative is America's leading opera and art program, specializes in providing an incredibly sophisticated arts immersion that alternates between opera through hands-on studio art in our light-filled Chelsea studio and museum visits and gallery hops to some of the city's leading contemporary art venues. Serving over 600 children/week from some of NYC's most underserved public elementary school children from Harlem and the South Bronx, The Time In Children's Arts Initiative looks forward to your joining us!

Time In would welcome those who love opera and the visual arts to join us and to support our kids as they make art! We work very closely with whole classes of some of the youngest and most underserved children from seriously challenged public schools in Harlem and the South Bronx. Kids join us at our studio or out in the field - we visit all of the city's leading museums and galleries - sketchbooks and pencils in hand. Time In is also proud to employ 19 of the city’s most up-and coming contemporary artists, with whom you will have the opportunity to work side by side!

A true opportunity to change the lives of kids through mentorship and to broaden one's own perspectives on music and art.

Ideally, all volunteers would commit on an ongoing basis since so many of our children struggle with the instabilities of homelessness, shifting families, immigration, etc.

On the upside, this is a very real opportunity to impact the lives of hundreds of young children from age 4-9, in very transformative ways!

Time In's Opera 'N Art Program runs Tuesday-Friday throughout the school year from 9:30am-1:30pm. Volunteers can come for the full shift or for one shift - from 10am-11:30am or from 11:30am-1pm.

We look forward to welcoming you!
