Job description:We are looking for an intern to update our social media sites on a daily to weekly basis, depending on the site. Position involves taking and posting weekly showroom photos on Flickr, posting special merchandise on Craigslist, updating our Facebook page with postings, videos, photos, and current events, writing daily blog entries, and more! The position also involves following and posting on social media sites of relevant organizations. The goal of this position is to increase our supporters while engaging in a meaningful discussion with them, thus increasing their dedication to our mission of building affordable housing. This is a great internship for hands-on experience in marketing a non-profit on the web and increasing awareness, donations, and volunteers through a free communications medium.
Training and resources: Upon starting the internship, the volunteer will be familiarized with our current social media sites as well as our social media procedures. The ideal candidate should not need training on how to use basic social media sites like Twitter, Word Press, Facebook, YouTube, Craigslist, and Flickr.
Time commitment: 12 to 15 hours per week are expected. The volunteer can do most of the work from home, if desired, however we do require at least four hours in the store each week.
Benefits: The volunteer will learn about Habitat for Humanity’s mission of building simple decent affordable housing. S/he will: a) learn ReStore’s role in attaining the affiliate’s goal, b) engage in a meaningful volunteer experience, c) gain hands-on, social media experience, and d) see how social media is a free way to increase awareness, donations, and supporters of a non-profit organization.
