Provide adult students learning to speak, read, understand, and write English as their second language with one-to-one and small group assistance practicing vocabulary words, pronunciation, reading fluency, conversation, and writing exercises. These students originate from over 80 countries and 65 language groups providing volunteers with tutoring experiences that are full of cultural learning and growth in appreciation of the diversity of our nation. Volunteers tutor in six levels of ESL classes from beginning to advanced levels. Currently we are seeking volunteers with experience in tutoring low-level and intermediate levels learners.

Requirements & Commitment

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • 2-4 hrs./wk.;days 9-1 M-F or eves 5:30-8:30 M-Th
  • MN Literacy Council 12 hr ESL Tutor Trng., teaching lic., TESOL cert., or ESL tutoring experience
