ORGANIZATION: Our House of Portland

Are you a green-thumb? Help contribute your skills to our community garden alongside our residents! You'll facilitate garden activities with residents, which could include planting, weeding, watering and harvesting, as well as some light maintenance work. If you’re a compassionate, warm-hearted soul who believes in the therapeutic nature of gardening, you’re perfect for this role!

Garden shifts are flexible and can be determined based on your availability in collaboration with other volunteers.

Please note: These are ad hoc roles and great for individuals looking to work alone or with a partner on their own schedule.

MANDATORY COVID VACCINE REQIREMENTS:
In furtherance of our efforts to protect the health and safety of our clients, residents, staff and volunteers and in accordance with public health guidance Our House of Portland is requiring all volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 15, 2021. According to the CDC, people are considered to be fully vaccinated:

  • Two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, e.g., the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or

Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, e.g., Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine

Proof of vaccination record will be required prior to first volunteer shift.

Mission Statement

Our House provides integrated health and housing services to people with HIV/AIDS. Guided by compassion, collaboration and respect, we provide 24-hour specialized care and independent housing with supportive services.

Description

HIV/AIDS is a complex and challenging disease that can often be overwhelming. The Our House team works with people with advanced HIV/AIDS who are having difficulty managing independent living. We tailor services for each individual that defines what "living well" means to them.

Consistent with our vision and core values, our Philosophy of Care is based upon compassionately and effectively meeting the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of our residents and clients.
