Business Volunteers for the Arts - GPAC

Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) helps both individual artists and arts organizations throughout Southwestern Pennsylvania. Our focus is in on helping small to medium sized arts organizations and professional artists.

BVA supports artists and arts and culture organizations with the critical support necessary to think strategically about their business. By matching seasoned business professionals with an artist or arts organization, BVA provides the creative community support to help individuals and organizations to work smarter, more effectively, and sustainably.

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council is looking for experienced business professionals with a passion for arts and culture and a desire to volunteer their time. Projects range from a single consulting session to projects that extend for several months. Most projects require 10-15 hours of time from a volunteer, although some projects may require more time. Volunteers will work directly with the client and GPAC staff to develop the scope, timing and goals of a project right up front to ensure that they reasonably meet what is expected of them during a project.

Description

The Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council (GPAC) drives political, financial, and professional support for the entire Greater Pittsburgh arts community.

With the tagline, "Arts loud and clear," GPAC acts as a central conduit for resources and information to and from the arts community. We are a megaphone through which the arts community speaks to policymakers in budget season, and a counselor through which it finds legal and business advice. GPAC is a bulletin board where artists find new commission opportunities, and a laboratorywhere arts marketers can grow their audiences. We are a classroom where arts professionals learn new skills, and a concierge for the public seeking an arts experience. Through research, we see the big picture of the forest that helps individual trees to grow. In short, GPAC is uniquely positioned as the business-to-business organization serving the local arts industry. With a membership of over 270 organizations and artists representing roughly 2,500 individuals, GPAC serves as the voice for the arts and culture in the greater Pittsburgh region.
