Our "Visit a Veteran" program provides volunteers with the unique ability to support our veteran patients who are on hospice. Medical City Hospice and Family Care brings the gift of friendship to our patients through regular visits by volunteers.
Our volunteers offer services such as companionship by just being present for the patient, reading, talking or assisting with non-medical tasks. Our volunteers also provide emotional support through listening, sharing experiences and stories, holding a hand, giving a hug, offering words of comfort, or respite by staying with the patient while a caregiver enjoys a moment alone.
We recognize that veterans share a special bond among each other. The goal of our "Visit a Veteran" program is to match veteran patients with hospice-trained volunteers who are also veterans. All hospice volunteers are trained with helpful skills in caring for and communicating with hospice patients and their families.
Volunteer hours are flexible, according to your availability.
Training and orientation will be arranged to fit to your schedule. Contact tonya.choate@hcahealthcare.com

Description
Life is much more than physical health; it is also the dignity of the human spirit. When physical health begins to fail, the nurturing of the spirit becomes increasingly important. Hospice care is a service that aids the transition between living and dying by providing respect, care, comfort, and support to patients and families.
Medical City Hospice and Family Care volunteers provide important support to the care of our patients and families.
HCA Healthcare is in 20 states and the United Kingdom and is one of the nation's leading providers of healthcare services. Our affiliate serving the DFW area is Medical City Hospice and Family Care.
