Tri-County Literacy is always looking for volunteer tutors to help adults in our communities!
We provide training that will prepare tutors to work with adults who want to improve their literacy skills - from reading, writing, math, computer literacy, and English Language Learning, to filling out forms and increasing literacy-based life skills. This training will cover both Adult Basic Education (ABE) and English Language Learning (ELL) for speakers of other languages.
Please contact Deb at 443-6384 or tricountyliteracy@tricountyliteracy.org for more information.

Mission Statement
Improving lives through literacy
Description
Founded in 1970, Tri-County Literacy is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improving lives through literacy. We are a partner agency of United Way of Midcoast Maine and an affiliate of ProLiteracy. Originally three separate programs, two mergers over the years resulted in one organization with two major programming branches.
Literacy Volunteers provides free, confidential tutoring to adults who may be nonreaders, low-level readers, or those for whom English is a second language. Our Read With Me Family Literacy Project works with at-risk families of young children, introducing them to the pleasure and value of reading together and to activities that will increase the families' abilities to support their children's learning. Only our Literacy Volunteers program utilizes volunteers.
Service is provided in approximately 40 towns and small cities in Midcoast Maine within Lincoln County, Sagadahoc County, and northeastern CumberlandCounty. With a small part-time staff, we serve over 450 beneficiaries annually.
