Currently we have an opening we need to fill on Mondays from 9am-12pm, with other shifts available per schedules permitting.

Our House provides healthcare, housing, everyday therapeutic activities and other vital services to those in need living with HIV. Our House has been part of the Portland community since 1988. Our services have expanded but our commitment to people living with HIV has remained the same. HIV is a complex and challenging disease that can often be overwhelming.

We operate a Residential Care Facility for 14 residents living with HIV/AIDS. We are looking for a few volunteers who would like to support Our House as a Receptionist to welcome visitors, support visitor and resident check in/ check out process, receive community donations, mail and packages, work on special projects, answer the phone for general inquiries and transfer to appropriate staff members, and connecting with our residents.

If you’re a warm and engaging person capable of working on your own, we need you for this role! Our reception is staffed Monday - Friday from 9:00 - 4:00 pm. We are currently looking for support Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

You will be required to wear a mask and a face shield throughout your shift. These will be provided to you by Our House.

Tasks at the Front Desk:

  • Signing in visitors, staff, residents and anyone else who comes to Our House
  • Taking and logging their temperature
  • Asking Yes or No Questions and logging their answers (example questions, Do you have any signs of fever or cough, have you traveled outside the US etc.)
  • All other regular front desk volunteer duties. Check mail, answer phones, assist with mailers (if able) etc.,

MANDATORY COVID VACCINE REQIREMENTS:
In furtherance of our efforts to protect the health and safety of our clients, residents, staff and volunteers and in accordance with public health guidance Our House of Portland is requiring all volunteers to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by October 15, 2021. According to the CDC, people are considered to be fully vaccinated:

  • Two weeks after their second dose in a two-dose series, e.g., the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or

Two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, e.g., Johnson & Johnson's Janssen vaccine

Proof of vaccination record will be required prior to first volunteer shift.
