Job Description

The HR Manager is responsible for planning, organizing and directing all aspects of the Human Health Project volunteer program. The manager will work closely with management and team leaders to identify volunteer needs, and then to source and screen volunteers, match them to positions, establish scheduling processes, and work with the staff to ensure all volunteers are working effectively in their roles.

Responsibilities:

  • Survey department managers regularly to assess needs for volunteer assistance
  • Assist managers with the creation of job descriptions
  • Manage all aspect of onboarding of volunteers
  • Evaluate all aspects of the volunteer program to ensure effectiveness and to recommend/implement changes as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate records and provide timely statistical and activity reports on volunteer participation
  • Maintain updated records on all volunteers
  • Complete volunteer agreements
  • Screen applicants for minimum job requirements
  • Research and implement a volunteer software tool to track all volunteers, along with hours worked
  • Develop and manage volunteer policies, procedures and standards of volunteer service
  • Participate in management meetings as needed
  • Assist with developing copy for newsletters/social media and other promotional collateral as it relates to the volunteer program
  • Post volunteer ads to online platforms such as VolunteerMatch
  • Introduce new volunteers to the organization and key team members
  • Record all applicant contact information


Requirements:

  • Prior experience as an HR Manager for public or nonprofit employer
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of management principles and evaluation techniques related to programs that involve a wide range of volunteer positions
  • Must be proficient in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and Internet usage
  • Familiarity with DropBox, VolunteerMatch, CRM(Salesforce)and Google Docs
  • Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects, and responsibilities
  • Must have a demonstrated capability to conduct one’s self in a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with difficult situations
  • Must be enthusiastic and highly customer-service oriented
  • Familiarity with issues involving health care and technology

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • College degree preferred
  • 2-3 years experience in volunteer management or leadership role, successfully managing individuals and larger groups of 60+

Availability:

  • Available to work days, evening, nights, as well as weekends as and when required
  • Willingness to adjust hours to accommodate the needs of the job
  • Available to volunteers and staff by phone/Skype and email
