This is a great volunteer experience for someone who wants a fun, low stress environment where everybody is full of holiday cheer! (Also a great way for people who need hours for school/church/etc to rack them all up in a day! :))
Each year for the last several years TAILS has been lucky enough to be allowed to wrap books (which are very easy to wrap) at Barnes & Noble in Westport in exchange for collecting donations for our spay/neuter programs. It's easy & fun - and we definitely need the help!
We have two full days to man the gift wrap table - there are four shifts per day - so nobody has to be there the entire time (unless you'd like to - it's actually quite fun everyone is very cheery!). Shifts are:
All supplies are provided by the bookstore - you just show up, wrap & have a good time! Please let us know which shift(s) you would like to help with - we would love to have you!
About TAILS (The Alliance In Limiting Strays)
P.O. Box 2277, Westport, CT 06880, US
The mission of T.A.I.L.S. is to serve the community as a charitable organization that promotes spay/neutering of animals and provides financial support to humane organizations and individuals in pursuit of this goal. We are dedicated to vigorously promoting and educating the community about the importance of spay/neuter to reduce, and eventually elimnate, the killing of unwanted dogs, cats, and other animals.
Put simply, TAILS funds and promotes spaying and neutering in Fairfield County to save thousands of dogs and cats from being born into a world of already overflowing shelters. Formed in 2001, TAILS has grown each year thanks to the many volunteers who have come out and made our events successful. A tax exempt, 501(c)3 we welcome anyone who cares about our furry friends to come out and help us make a difference for dogs and cats! Thanks!
In November 2014, we took over the cat adoption space at the Petco-Norwalk location at 650 Main Ave (next to WalMart and Staples) in addition to housing and fostering dogs/puppies whenever we could. So although our mission is focused on spaying/neutering the problem of animal overpopulation (especially when it comes to the kittens and friendly cats we come across in our Trap-Neuter-Return programs) has given way to our moving into saving our furry friends through adoption programs. Make no mistake - we are still focused on spay/neutering - full year 2014 we spay/neutered 197 dogs and cats! - but we just need more folks to help us with the actual care of dogs/cats as the need grows. Can you help? We would simply love it.
