The Greenville Rescue Mission is a 150-bed emergency men's shelter, which provides 3 meals a day to the guests residing with us. At capacity, that translates to over 164,000 meals per year!
Our generous community partners donate a large portion of the food we serve, for which we are very grateful. However, this presents a challenge as well since almost all of our kitchen staff are our resident guests. We need skilled cooks who can teach our staff how to assemble a healthy meal using the ingredients on hand.
Not only would this help with the overall nutrition of our guests, but it also would provide valuable occupational training that could translate into developing a useable skill set that may help with a lasting life-change.
Because of the environment of service we ask that female volunteers apply with a partner.

Description
Founded in 1937, we are a non-profit organization in the Upstate of South Carolina dedicated to providing extensive services to individuals and families in the form of food, shelter, clothing, personal development, addiction recovery support, and residential and foster care for children. We are now a significant provider of services to the homeless in South Carolina - serving the Upstate with nine facility locations and transitional housing throughout Greenville, Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Pickens counties.
