A Helping Hand is a non-profit organization that provides independent living services to seniors and disabled adults that allow individuals to remain independent and maintain self-sufficiency. Companions provide a variety of non-medical services that allow seniors to remain in their homes.
These services include:
Companionship
Social engagement/conversation
In-Home Assistance
Light housekeeping/Home organization
Meal preparation
Errands/Escorted Transportation
Door through door transportation to medical appointments, grocery store, etc.
Respite Care
Services provided by companions improve the client’s quality of life, increase their physical and emotional wellbeing, reduce social isolation, improve access to health and human services and provide a much needed break for family caregivers.
Special Requirements: Individuals must have a clean driving record, clean background, and current car insurance.
Availability: Flexible schedule. You can pick and choose assignments based on your availability.

We promote self-sufficiency, quality of life, and the highest level of independence for older adults and individuals with disabilities in the Durham and Chapel Hill, North Carolina area.
Description
A Helping Hand is unique in both structure and approach. Wholly independent and locally-founded, we are the only non-profit companion care provider in Durham, Orange and northern Chatham Counties.
Companion care provides friendship, socialization and transportation to seniors and adults with disabilities who would otherwise be isolated. Our tailored, person-centered care and companion matching process ensures we can provide compatible matches and meaningful interactions for both our volunteers and our clients of all income levels.
