Two Degrees is an exciting, new YLC program that connects St. Louis teens from under-resourced communities with adults and opportunities in STEM fields. The goal of Two Degrees is to reduce the degrees of separation between teens and opportunities, from the known six degrees, to at least two. Two Degrees will help high school students develop communication and interpersonal skills and provide them with the ability to make meaningful connections to the world of STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math).
This is where YOU come in as a Bridge Coach. Students will connect with you by sending messages through our engaging online platform. As a Bridge Coach, you will reply to students at your convenience to them with valuable information about your own experience as a STEM professional and insight on STEM career options.

Description
YLC is a youth-focused educational center operated by an organization that believes, as a statement of fact, that education is the beginning of freedom and that every child, regardless of economic status, race or class, is deserving of this gift of freedom. YLC's programmatic offerings are available to K-8th grade students in our after school Resources for Learning Program and Summer Discovery Academy. In addition, we also offer programming to high school students interested in STEM careers through our networking program called Two Degrees. Our growth-mindset focused offerings include learning through play, solving, and building in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) fields, which include Video Game Design, Computer Animation, Chess, Robotics, Aeronautics, and many other areas relevant to 21st century skill advancement. We are proud to be a United Way Volunteer Center-Certified agency.
