This unique preschool is designed specifically to enable the children of recent immigrants and refugees to learn the English language, develop social skills and learn American culture through the use of Creative Curriculum. Currently, children enrolled in the school represent families from 18 different countries. The curriculum operates is a such a way as to remain responsive to each child and family's ethnic, cultural, and linguistic heritage.

Volunteers help prepare lessons, play with and read to the children, and help prepare snacks.

Description

UMCM Suncoast provides service to the communities on the Gulf Coast of Florida through a variety of programs.

Family Support Services - providing rent and utility payment assistance for families in need in Pinellas county.

Homeless Ministries - providing personal care items to homeless men, women, and children and to migrant workers' children throughout Manatee, Pinellas, Pasco, Hernando, and Citrus counties

Feeding Ministries - providing food for the homeless and working poor in Pinellas county

Children of the World Preschool - helping children of immigrants and refugees in St. Petersburg learn English and prepare for kindergarten

Quality Early Learning Initiative - each of our three Centers works to launch children and families on a lifelong journey of learning and growing.

Families Learning Together - teaching English literacy skills to immigrant and refugee families throughout Pinellas and Pasco counties

Suncoast Citizenship - providing citizenship instruction and a connection to legal services to Legal Permanent Residents wishing to become US citizens.

Plus a variety of special short-term projects.
