ORGANIZATION: Southwest Community Health Center

  • 41 people are interested

SW Community Health Center is a safety-net clinic, providing access and quality health services to low-income uninsured members of our community -regardless of their income, ethnicity or social circumstances.

Portland clinic hours are: Tuesdays 4-8 pm, Wednesdays 8:45 - noon and Thursday 8:45 - noon

* A schedule will be worked out on a monthly basis for volunteer shifts.

The interpreter helps SWCHC achieve our goals by providing objective and accurate communication between the patient and doctor.

While previous experience interpreting in the health setting is awesome, it is not required. Volunteers interested in interpreting for the first time will receive an independent language skills evaluation and on-the-job training by shadowing an experienced interpreter.

This is a great opportunity for experienced or native Spanish speakers interested in learning more about the health care industry, or intermediate Spanish speakers looking for opportunities to practice their language skills.
