Growing kids in the garden!

Farmer Frog is developing k-12 curriculum centered around the school garden as an outdoor classroom. This is a STEM/STEAM focused Common Core compliant Next Generation Science Standard based curriculum with one complete unit per school year, usable with each grade band.
Currently we are responding to COVID and partnered with emergency management teams. We move 100+ thousand pounds of food a day and feeding over two million Washingtonians. We are looking at providing hands-on training in emergency management and prevention through the lens of STEAM besides finishing our existing curriculum projects.

Excellent written and verbal skills required. Some experience with curriculum development or teaching is preferred. Students obtaining their bachelors degree in education and in search of an internship or experience are encouraged to apply. In person visits to our facilities might be necessary to understand our work and processes. We observe strict COVID protocol.

We hope to hear from you soon, thank you for your interest!

Mission Statement

Farmer Frog is Sprouting Simple Change. We grow kids, cultivate community and nurture habitat for all living things through real food.

Description

We are a 501c3 nonprofit organization serving thousands of people with free or low cost fresh food and hands on learning as we also protect the environment and wildlife 365 days a year. We help create, maintain and manage edible school gardens and small permaculture farms. We show educators how to use such spaces as outdoor classrooms to teach STEAM and we assist folks learning how to grow food in whatever space they have available in ecosystem friendly ways.

Our headquarters is in Snohomish. Our new BearGrass Farm will be opening soon to offer learning and gathering spaces, retreat and relaxing opportunities and is a demonstration site for several important programs including Bear With Me (our wildlife and predator friendly practices), Farmer Frog Studios (our art and film projects) and smart farming systems that include research and partnership with local higher education institutions. We host people from all walks of life, from schools through clubs and corporate teams, various cultural programs, immigrant communities, private gatherings, hands on classes, summer campers, NAMI programming, facilitator-led activities, juvenile releasees and community service oriented individuals.
