During April, May, September and October, CALF conducts its Connecting Kids to Agriculture learning in the field educational programs. These field trips are available at CALF's Lowell Ranch Monday through Friday during those months. Education Volunteers must attend this orientation to qualify to be a CALF Education Program Volunteer.
Education Program Volunteers: 1) enjoy being with Pre-school through 5th grade age children; 2) enjoy being out-doors in a agricultural environment; and 3) enjoy being part of a fun team. Volunteers assist in delivering quality content for authentic educational learning stations. Volunteers are requested to be at CALF's Lowell Ranch beginning at 9am to assist in setting up learning station activities and stay until our students leave and station activities are put away at approximately 2:15. CALF is a fun outdoor environment and our team is talented and enthusiatic! We would love your help with these fun field trips. CALF works with Verified Volunteers to screen all our education volunteers.
CALF also offers many other volunteer opportunities including help with gardening, livestock, and much more!

Mission Statement
CALF is dedicated to connecting people to agriculture through authentic edcuational programs, community projects and special events.
Description
CALF operates the historic, 133-acre Lowell Ranch as a working educational ranch to help people better understand the importance of agriculture in everyday life. CALF's Lowell Ranch is equipped with indoor and outdoor classroom facilities and a community meeting room with kitchen. We provide: 4-H and FFA members space to raise livestock projects, and land for food production, community gardens, and pumpkin patch which provides pumpkins for the community at our annual Harvest Day.
Programs:Our accessible facilities and strong community and industry connections position CALF to resourcefully connect people to agriculture. We work cooperatively with all who are interested in conducting high quality educational programs, organize unique opportunities for the community to experience agricultural life, and host innovative and engaging special events.
CALF works with the Douglas County School District to provide our Connecting Kids to Agricultureschool age programs. Our programs currently include: FBarnyard Buddies (Kindergarten) Farm Days (Grades K-1), Food from the Farm (2 nd Grade), Colorado Ranching and Heritage Day (4 th Grade) and CAMP CALF! A summertime agricultural adventure (Ages 9-12 year olds). Our long-term plan is to offer a full range of youth and adult educational programs that are portable to other locations in addition to the Lowell Ranch and that includes teacher training workshops, classroom resource packet development, authentic field experiences, and demonstration projects.
Each year, CALF hosts several events and festivals focused on agricultural enjoyment and awareness. Working with a broad spectrum of industry sectors, we provide activities that bring life and meaning to agriculture during our May Days and Harvest Day events at the Lowell Ranch.
