At Heartland Hospice, we honor veterans and their service to our great nation. In an effort to expand our Vets-to-Vets program, we are calling on veterans in the community to help serve our veteran hospice patients and loved ones.

Why are Veterans important to Heartland Hospice?

  • The potential for a better match of patients and volunteers based on similar interests and experiences is increased.
  • Veterans share a common language, code, and conduct of honor.
  • Trust often develops faster between people who have common life experiences.
  • The camaraderie between veterans can enhance civilian social roles.
  • Sharing war experiences supports life review and healing.

Mission Statement

Heartland Hospice is dedicated to providing quality care to patients and families that are living in this community. Heartland takes a team approach to palliative (comfort) care for those living with a terminal illness, providing emotional support to both patients and their families. Services are provided either in the patient's home, assisted living or nursing facilities. The mission of Heartland Hospice is to enrich lives by providing caring support to individuals with life-limiting illnesses. Volunteers help improve the quality of patients' lives through social interaction and companionship.

Description

Heartland Hospice is an organization that provides a unique type of care to patients with a terminal illness and to support their loved ones. Hospice focuses on enhancing the quality of life, rather than the length of life.

At Heartland Hospice, we consider it a privilege to help patients fulfill life with dignity, hope and compassion. Heartland's team approach to meeting patients and families physical, emotional, and spiritual needs would not be complete without the care of our wonderful volunteers!

Volunteers play a vital role in our organization and are rewarded with the kind of gratification that comes from helping others.
