Wishgranting volunteers work directly with wish children and their families to live out the mission of Make-A-Wish through granting wishes!

You will work with a volunteer partner, and meet with your wish child and their family. You will then have the magical conversation about your wish kid’s wish! Volunteers work with each child to determine his or her heartfelt wish and complete the granting of the wish with Program staff.

Following your initial interview with a wish child, you and your volunteer partner maintain communication with the family and Make-A-Wish staff about the status of the wish. This helps build excitement and anticipation for the wish experience until the day the wish comes true!

Wish granters are required to be a minimum age of 21, interview the wish child at their home or in the hospital, work collaboratively, and have excellent communications skills. This role does not require a specific number of volunteer hours per week but requires each volunteer to see the experience through from start to finish. Interviews with wish children are scheduled at the convenience of the volunteers and wish families. The wish process, from start to finish, can take anywhere between six months to two and a half years to reach completion.
