Color Dash
Color Dash in Action!

The COLOR DASH is coming to Atlanta with a hurricane of color that will turn you into a tie-dyed movement of bliss - all to help raise awareness of Down syndrome and celebrate World Down Syndrome Day!

DSAA needs volunteers to help with registration, crowd control, along the race route with water, etc.

We hope you will join us!

What's a Color Dash?

You will want to start the race with a shirt as clean and white as the first Minnesota snow, but we will make sure that you soak up such a great deal of color that you may just end up being colored for life. Don’t be surprised if you even end up looking like a leprechaun that has tripped into that huge rainbow of color that he’s always searching for. It may be enough to get your feet moving and dance it off at the end of the DASH -- whatever you do, let the colors move you!

What’s in that color - is it safe?

Now, now, we know you probably think you will actually be dashing through real rainbow dust -- and no, there will be no leprechauns or pots of gold at the end of the Dash, so don’t even ask.

But let’s clear this up. This isn’t something too good to be true. The color is a non-toxic, non-irritating, food-grade colored corn-starch. Processed right here in the rockin’ United States of America. So running, walking, crawling or rolling through this spectacular show of color and laughter may in fact change your perspective but not your level of wellness.

Mission Statement

The Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta enhances the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families through education, support, advocacy, and awareness.

Description

The Down Syndrome Association of Atlanta (DSAA) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization started in 1978 by a group of parents of children with Down syndrome. Today there are 700 families who are members. DSAA offers educational conferences, website and email information, New Parent Seminars, social activities, support and networking groups, a newsletter, and materials for families. We have Parent Liaisons in contact with over 50 birthing hospitals in the metro Atlanta area, providing peer support to parents of newborns with Down syndrome. We provide financial support to and work closely with the Emory Down Syndrome Clinic, part of the Department of Human Genetics at Emory University School of Medicine, and with the Adult Down Syndrome Clinic, part of the Institute for the Study of Disadvantage and Disability. We sponsor a support group for Spanish-speaking families, with monthly activities that draw 40 or more Hispanic families for educational and networking opportunities. We network with other organizations to provide advocacy for individuals with disabilities. More than anything else, we provide awareness of the unique potential of children and adults with Down syndrome and try to help the public become better informed and more accepting.
