Car City gives the community an opportunity to learn about family homelessness in a meaningful, hands-on way by sleeping overnight in their cars. Similar to the idea of a walk-a-thon, participants in Car City raise a registration fee plus pledges to benefit the Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN). "Virtual" participants (raise funds and attend the event, but sleep at home) are also welcome!
This year we will be joined by a panel of RAIHN graduates who will share their experiences, as well as local photojournalist Michele Ashlee who will share her thoughts and photography of poverty in Rochester. In addition to dinner, a car decorating contest, a sundae bar, photo booth, games, and other activities, there will once again be Bedtime Yoga and CAR-aoke, karaoke singing to your favorite songs about cars!
Groups, families and individuals are encouraged to register and participate in the evening’s events. Visit www.raihn.org to make a pledge, create or join a team, and to create your own fundraising page. Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for youth ages 12-18. Raise a minimum of $50 and receive a Car City T-shirt!

Mission Statement
Rochester Area Interfaith Hospitality Network (RAIHN) is a not-for-profit, interfaith, culturally-competent organization that assists homeless families to achieve sustainable independence by supporting them with tailored services including shelter, food, personalized case management, and a diverse network of caring volunteers.
Description
RAIHN provides families with the support they need to secure safe, stable housing. RAIHN provides 14 beds for homeless families in a cost-efficient way due to in-kind meals and housing provided by our faith communities. Families spend their evenings at our congregations enjoying meals and activities with our volunteers, and have access to case management, laundry and computer facilities, and other resources at our Day Center during the day.
RAIHN is one of the few programs that keeps families together during their entire period of temporary displacement, and also offers after care services once a family has graduated from the program.
RAIHN works hard to keep families together and get them home...for good.
